International Research

The Academy recognizes the importance of research in its development and as such it has included it as one of its strategic objectives of the strategic plan 2021-2025, which includes the spectrum and quality of research, laboratory work at the Institute for Road Safety and Transport Research involving both staff and students of the Academy. Part of the institute includes the laboratory for expertise in the field of transport, traffic, and road safety. The Academy has the Regulation for Scientific Research). This regulation defines the rules, procedures, and other accompanying documents for the organization of scientific research activity of academic staff, researchers, and students. The Academy has made research an important priority in its development. The Academy has developed the Research Strategy 2021-2025. Among other things, the strategy foresees that "Tempulli Academy supports the development and research projects of staff and students in order to enhance the relevance of studies". The same priorities are reflected in all the documents related to the research.

The use of research by academic staff in the teaching process is very important, especially in the contextualization of problems in the context of Kosovo and the region. Relying on the importance of research and its use in the teaching process, the Academy has created a suitable infrastructure for conducting research within the institute and is committed to support it. This, not only enables the use of staff to use research in the teaching process but also enables the involvement of students in the research process. Furthermore, the Academy, in partnership with the Institute for Road Safety and Transport Research (part of the Academy), every year organizes various research conferences. In 2022 the Academy organized the 8th International Conference-Smart Mobility, the Future of Green and Sustainable Transport and in 2023 the 9th International Conference-Evaluation of Road Safety-Challenges and Opportunities. During these events, the Academy staff and students are encouraged to take part in, not only with a physical presence but with papers and presentations. Also, the Academy staff participate in various international events like the 27th World Road Congress in Prague, in the Czech Republic during October 2023.

International Conferences

International conferences provide invaluable opportunities for collaboration, networking, and the exchange of ideas across borders. They allow our institution and academic staff to showcase their work, learn from global best practices, and foster partnerships that can enhance academic and research pursuits. Engaging in these conferences can significantly elevate an institution's international profile and drive its mission forward.

Academy is continuously encouraged to publish and participate in national and international conferences, symposia or congresses with their work as this will be considered during their annual staff evaluation as well as promotion process.

The Academic staff participate in various international events like 27th World Road Congress in Prague, in Czech Republic during October 2023, Summit of Railway Excellence of the Western Balkans during February 2023.

Furthermore, the Academy, in partnership with the Institute for Road Safety and Transport Research (part of Tempulli Academy), annually organizes various international research conferences (mentioned above). During these events, the Academy staff and students are encouraged to take part in, not only with a physical presence but with papers and presentations.

Department for International Cooperation

The Center for International Cooperation at Tempulli plays a key role in fostering global partnerships and facilitating academic exchanges. Its main functions include building relationships with universities and organizations worldwide, managing international student and faculty mobility programs, and supporting joint research projects. It often organizes events, conferences, and workshops to promote cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. By providing these opportunities, the center helps enrich the institution’s academic environment and enhances its global reputation.

The responsibilities of the Center for International Cooperation include:

Facilitating International Partnerships:
- Establishing and maintaining collaborations with foreign universities, research centers, and organizations.
- Drafting and managing agreements for joint programs, exchanges, and research initiatives.
Managing Student Mobility:
- Coordinating incoming and outgoing student exchanges and study abroad programs.
- Providing students with guidance on application procedures, visas, and financial aid options.
- Ensuring credit transfer and academic recognition across partner institutions.
Supporting International Students:
- Offering orientation programs, academic advising, and social support for international students.
- Assisting with visa processes, residency permits, and legal matters related to immigration.
- Organizing cultural integration activities to help students adjust to their new environment.
Promoting Internationalization at Home:
- Encouraging the inclusion of global perspectives within academic curricula and campus life.
- Facilitating workshops, seminars, and events that promote intercultural understanding.
- Supporting faculty and students in developing international competencies.
Coordinating Faculty and Staff Mobility:
- Assisting faculty and staff with international research collaborations, teaching exchanges, and professional development opportunities abroad.
- Providing administrative support for travel arrangements, visa applications, and financial aid.
Compliance with International Regulations:
- Ensuring compliance with international and national regulations regarding visas, scholarships, and student mobility.
- Advising students and staff on immigration, residency, and work permits.
Overseeing Recruitment of International Students:
- Developing marketing strategies and outreach efforts to attract international students.
- Attending international fairs, establishing local partnerships, and maintaining online platforms for global recruitment.
Managing Scholarships and Funding:
- Administering international scholarships, grants, and funding for students and staff.
- Identifying opportunities for funding international projects, research initiatives, and mobility programs.
Facilitating International Events:
- Organizing international conferences, academic exchanges, and cultural events to foster global academic collaboration.
- Hosting international delegations, guest speakers, and scholars for seminars and networking events.

Institutional cooperation is an area with specific priorities which focuses on:

Vreating the good image of Tempulli;
Strengthening the office for international cooperation;
Establishing local and international partnerships and networks;
Participating in international projects - Erasmus, Horizon Europe, local grants, capacity development for drafting international educational and research projects, etc.

The process of internationalization is managed by the Coordinator for International Relations in corporation with the Director of Tempulli.

In addition to the importance of cooperation at an international level, a special focus is also given to cooperation agreements with local institutions in Kosovo involving the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure, municipalities and other state institutions, civil society organizations that are involved with research and analysis in various fields in Kosovo. Tempulli is very active in the community by either organizing or participating in various events. During the last three years Tempulli organized or participated in the following activities in the community:

Innovation Workshop "Safer roads for people and the planet"
Bicycle races within the eighth edition of the school magazine "Road Safety 2023"
Roundtable discussion “World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Traffic Accidents”
Roundtable discussion “Unregistered Vehicles in Kosovo”

Academic Staff Mobility

In order to increase its reputation regarding internationalization, academic staff of the Academy has successfully attended staff exchange programs. The academic staff of the Academy has supported and encouraged staff training and development. This has been done by organizing courses with different programs that work with the everyday work of the staff. The organization of working visits at home and abroad to partner institutions has been done with the aim of further professional development for our teaching staff. Exchange visits of staff such as those at the University of Dresden, Istanbul Ayvansaray University, etc.

From 2021 to 2023, through the partnership agreement (Erasmus+ program), these mobilities were realized:
